For Unto Us A Child Is Born

Another Christmas and another year gone by. We have waited for Y2K...waited for a new president...and many have waited for end of time.

If anything, we have learned to wait. As many celebrate the birth of Christ, others are hopelessly searching for the love of Jesus Christ--those that are homeless, spouseless, childless, parentless, penniless, destitute, lonely, hungry, sick and dying or long forgotten. Whose birthday are we celebrating anyway? Let's not forget the holiness and the reason for the season and may we remember those who are shedding tears of sorrow instead of joy.

We are often asked how we celebrate Christmas. We love the spirit of a time we honor the birth of Christ. Our friends and family join us for a turkey dinner. Our school is preparing a musical program, always centering around our Savior. St. Nicholas is just a memory of a good ol' man who loved children years ago. Only Jesus can see us when we are sleeping and knows when we're awake. He knows if we've been bad or good, so be good for our souls' sake. The focus of Christmas has become so out of control that many parents can't meet the expectations of their child's wishes. Whatever happened to the days when we, as children, were happy with a rubber doll that didn't need batteries, jacks, or a toy truck and yo-yo? I really believe, down deep in my heart, that the joy of Christmas has diminished with our high tech, prosperous life in America.

Recently we received a Christmas wish from 7-year-old Craig Shelford who has little time to live. He expressed his desire to have an entry in the World Book of Records for the largest collection of business cards received by an individual. What a simple request that was given to the "Children's Make-A-Wish Foundation." With 19,000 on our mailing list, we can bless his little heart with the price of a postage stamp.

If you have ever witnessed the children of third world countries that are born and live in the city dump under cardboard boxes, how happy they are to find a generous morsel of food that they found before the giant buzzards. I know we can't cure the problems of the world, but let's not forget what Jesus said, "Whatever you've done to the least of them, you've done unto me."

As my mind travels from poverty, starvation, and abused children back to the ministry here that shelters the children, they are blessed to escape the tragedies they have endured.

With 65 children, you can imagine the excitement of Christmas (some for the first time). We are grateful for the churches, corporations, and individuals who bring gifts, food, and supplies abundantly through the year.

The Born Free Angel House has 13 babies under the age of two that have mommies in prison. We have serviced prisons from California, Florida, Texas, Connecticut, West Virginia and both prisons in Kentucky.

Our wish and prayer for you, our friends and supporters of God's children, is that you count your blessings and seek the will of God. Your contributions to this ministry have reached 16 countries and 20 states. We thank you for touching the world, through all you have given and prayed for. We've had some real touch financial times in which God has seen us through. Thank you for standing with us and believing our vision.

Without God and your heartfelt support, we could have never helped over 750 children that have been in our care over the years.

May you all have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

In Jesus we remain,

Jerry, Sandy Tucker and children.
