STOP AND HUG THE ROSIE!
Anyone who has ever visited the Galilean Home has encountered a hug from our greeter, Rosie. Rosie was raised at Faith Mission home since 4 or 5. Brain damaged from lead poisoning she is still on a 4 year old level even at age 38. When she was 21, she came to us for permanent placement. We legally adopted her as one of our own. Sixteen years of Rosie's hugs-we couldn't imagine living without her. She has been the sunshine of this home. Her aggressive hugs have literally knocked some visitors over, but soon they feel her love and excitement of their visit. The energy she displays is never ending, unless she has a seizure. That's the only time she comes to a halt.
Rosie also plays a big part in entertaining our handicapped children in the medical ward. She has taught Butchie how to walk by chasing after him as she crawled to escape her tickles. She hugs and kisses the bedfast ones till they giggle. We believe she extended little Ramsey's life who lay twisted and helpless as she pulled him up from his pillow to kiss him on the cheek. He would laugh till he couldn't catch his breath.
Ramsey finally passed on to heaven at the age of 15. Ten years longer than the doctors predicted. Thanks to God and Rosie as well as the wonderful caretakers who cared for him. We are grateful and blessed and now rejoicing that Ramsey is no longer in pain. He died of respiratory failure. He now can breath freely, hand in hand with Jesus.
The Born Free Ministry now has 14 babies under the age of 2. Julie finally got to pick up twin #2 from Connecticut. Baby Tabitha, 4 lbs. united with her sister Trina, after gaining a pound as the hospital required. Born Free directors, Hope and Michael Burt drove to Connecticut a week before for twin #1. Their mommy has a 6 year sentenc3e and is very grateful not to lose her twins to the State system. The addition to the Angel House is slowly getting completed, which is a large play room for the babies.
The Quilt Auction was another huge success. The $60,000 benefit is always used to pay unexpected bills that accumulate through the year. Thanks to all who have given, participated, and attended this year. Your faithful support is essential to these children, as our funding does not draw any State support.
As we prepare for our restaurant project on Walnut Hill, we felt we must consolidate our two restaurants in town. We will accommodate the Diner's business at our larger cafe. We increased the seating capacity to be able to serve the community. A breakfast buffet will be added to the cafe menu. If in the area please stop in and enjoy our delicious meals. The Cafe provides training for our young folks. Whether they are afflicted with physical or mental handicaps. Our hours are: Monday: 6:30am-3:00pm - Tuesday: 6:30am-3:00pm - Wednesday: 6:30am-3:00pm - Thursday: 6:30am-8:00pm (Seniors 1/2 price after 4:30pm) - Friday: 6:30am-8:00pm - Saturday: 7:00am-3:00pm.
