No Mountain Is Too High
Grand Opening finally arrived with the new Bread of Life Cafe. Teaching the young folks the value of work ethics while serving the community has benefited the Galilean Home in many more ways than one. They are taught to lean on faith that they can do all things in Jesus Christ, and not on their disabilities. It does not matter that they may not have hands or legs. We believe that as long as they have a heart, determination and unfailing faith, no mountain is too high.
The Cafe gives an opportunity to witness to others that there is hope for our young people. Where manners and respect still exists. Where young men and young ladies can still be recognized as such. Every Thursday evening we'll continue to have Senior Night where a generous meal can be bought for half price. nothing compares to the heartwarming fellowship that is shared on that night. children and older folks are my passion. I guess because I've been there and I see in today's world how abused many children are while our precious seniors are neglected, and many forgotten, in a lot of ways they have the same needs. Come and join us for a meal. Our new hours are 10a.m. till 9p.m. Monday through Saturday. Closed on Sunday, as its our day of worship and rest. Reservations recommended if traveling a long distance.
The Angel House is caring for 16 babies serving prisons in Louisville, Lexington and Connecticut. The three Connecticut babies are going to see their mommies who last saw them at birth ten months ago.
The Galilean Campus consists of many buildings on twenty acres. The Angel House is 9000 sq. ft., room enough to house fifty babies. The main house where most of children reside started out with a two story log house when we only had five children at the time. Since 1982 we built on an additional twenty two bedrooms and a chapel, classrooms, dining rooms and a commercial size kitchen. As the years brought more children we built a new school, offices, laundry center, and a medical ward that houses sixteen residents.
Our Country Store and Fudge Factory is included in the grand tour for the hungry and thirsty or to buy some Galilean keepsakes or the two books I wrote several years ago when I had more time. Several cabins were built to house some of our older children or staff. The Mary-Martha House is a new seven bedroom facility built for our volunteer young ladies. It sets back behind to Joshua House Therapy Center next to the Youth Center and picnic shelters. The grounds are groomed like a park, surrounded by woods and Mennonite farms, where horses and mules plowing the fields can be watched from The Angel House porch.
Visitors stream in and are welcomed for a tour. Horse and buggies peacefully roll on by as little boys and girls with straw hats and bonnets shyly wave. So unspotted from the world, unaware of violence, drugs, divorce and immorality that the world is facing with the youth of today. Part of my heart has never left the plain and simple life when we were Mennonites.
Memories are often what we survive on, especially when we get old and have more time to reminisce. What memories are we creating for our children? Technology is robbing this generation of a simple life, when families used to do everything together, even meals together.
Kentucky living surely has created a lot of memories since we moved here twenty seven years ago. A lot of water has gone under the bridge, as we cared for over 800 children in our thirty eight years of marriage. Do we ever dream of a normal life with a small cabin just the two of us with a 9 - 5 job by the time we reach retirement age? Sure we do, but that is not an option in God's plan. Your support replaces that dream with something much more satisfying - a burning desire to keep serving. God didn't say it would be easy, but rather it will be worth it.
Want a taste of this life? Come for a visit and see for yourself how your donations are spent. Daughter Becky and husband Merv have a beautiful Bed & Breakfast just a mile down that ridge. Give her a call and make a reservation and we will guarantee you will be amazed to meet and hear the children talk about their painful life and how they are over comers. You'll go away a new person. Trust me...it happened to me.
In Jesus we remain,
Jerry Sandy and all God's Children
