Where Have All The Flowers Gone?
The days of yesterday--with the simple joys of life--are now a treasure of memories; being satisfied with a good meal that mom prepared instead of an after school microwave; anticipating our first romance with the innocence of daydreams.
As the world turns, and changes, sin overtakes our youth. We are facing dimensions that never before existed. The lifestyle, music, technology, and morals of youth today is a death sentence to their souls.
Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I yearn and long for the days to return when girls were young ladies and dressed as such; when young men respected them enough to use manners, gentle tenderness, and honored the wishes of her parents, to have a Godly courtship; where trust was more important that lust; where true love became a holy union that lasted until death.
I suppose our biggest loss in our day and age is respect; respect for parents and home-life, rules authority, our government and president, teachers, fallen spiritual leaders, police officers, legal systems like our courts that are punishing parents who discipline their children, or for the courts who punish child abusers by slapping their wrists and in some cases just counseling. How can we respect our school systems who replaced the bible with alternative lifestyle books?
Religion used to be respected and you didn't enter the House of God without wearing your Sunday best. As we witness our young people escorted by their parents to church in torn up, sloppy jeans and T-shirts with hairstyles that years ago you would only see in a mental institution and their bodies a human pin cushion. What kind of treasured memories will these young people pass on to their children and grandchildren?
I'm sorry to offend anyone but I'm coming to the point of this letter. As we care for over two dozen teenagers and young adults, we have our share of problems and constantly have to deal with them. As the new generation opposes our ways, standards and morals, we continue to hold on to what we believe even if we fail to save every soul. The world can criticize, mock, and call us old fashioned, but the proof is in the pudding. "The tail doesn't wag the dog." But first and foremost, we must set the example, and in order to be respected by our youth, we must earn their respect by practicing what we preach. no, we're not perfect...no one is. Time and time again we get phone calls from parents of "out of control" youth, and it makes you question, "Where have all the flowers gone?"
GALILEAN
UPDATE: THE ANGEL HOUSE
The Angel House has a dozen babies with our newest baby boy, C.J. and baby girl,
Kimberly who's mommies are in prison. The new addition--the large playroom for
our growing babies--is finally completed by our Apostolic friends.
THE GALILEAN CHRISTIAN ACADEMY has nearly 70 Scholars-Preschool through 12th grade. We are anticipating 8 graduates this May.
The MEDICAL WARD that cares for the severely handicapped by dedicated, loving, staff knows how to respond to their every need. They are responsible for 17 residents under their care.
Our FOREIGN MISSION still reaches out to the medical needs of children in other countries. We are now preparing three children from Honduras (two burn patients and one orthopedic.) They will soon be joining the other 17 already here who came for surgeries and medical attention. We have an office in Honduras at the Grand Hotel Sula that graciously accommodates us every three months when Jerry goes down to interview children. All in all, we've touched 16 different countries rescuing children from infirmities, pain, and even death.
Your support has made this all possible. We continue to refrain from state funding, relying solely on God's people to provide the funds needed to maintain all divisions of this ministry. Words cannot begin to express our appreciation for being a partner the Galilean children. This time of year, right after Christmas, is traditionally a very slow time, financially. Please continue to remember us with your support and prayers.
